Northern Arizona University’s new School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability (SESES) draws upon a wide range of faculty in the natural and social sciences to offer undergraduate and graduate degrees. SESES is the new home of the degree programs in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies, Geology, Earth Science, and Environmental Sciences and Policy. SESES gives students the opportunity to pursue a wide range of learning and research opportunities.

In addition to having several faculty with formal appointments in both Geology and Environmental Sustainability, the School shares several education values. We remain committed to these values as we preserve existing academic programs while exploring new academic opportunities. All the classes and degree programs in SESES will retain their emphasis on:

Rigorous pre-professional programs,
Excellent student placement
Orientation toward field studies
Relatively small major classes
Strong peer/cohort group
100% tenured and tenure-track faculty in majors courses
Outstanding opportunities for undergraduate student research
